Virginia Sparkling Wines

Anytime is a good time for sparking wines, but it seems that folks really like to pop their cork around the holidays.

There are about a dozen-and-a-half wineries in Virginia that bottle the bubbles, and while we’ve enjoyed all we’ve tried, here are three on our current radar to suggest to you:

Ingleside Vineyards Virginia Brut

Winery tasting notes: “There is a delicate texture and crisp mouth feel, along with complex aromas and color. Made by hand, this Methode Champenoise sparkling wine makes any meal special. It also serves well as an aperitif or with dessert.”

Thibaut-Janisson Winery Blanc de Chardonnay

Winery tasting notes: “…the flavors and essence of the Virginia Terroir. The Cuvee, made of 100 percent Chardonnay from the Monticello Appellation, has vibrant aromas of pear and ripe apples; the taste is perfectly balanced, crisp and refreshing.”

Trump Winery 2007 Sparkling Reserve

Winery tasting notes: “…100 percent Chardonnay and is made with our most expressive vineyard blocks … It has a beautiful golden color and a soft finely beaded mousse. It is crisp and elegant with notes of honey, baked apples, pear, toffee and spice. It is rich and bold in style but kept fresh by a balanced acidity.”
