Vintage Tavern Combines Fine Dining with a More Casual Experience

Following a six-week renovation, Vintage Tavern reopened to the public on Oct. 16, showcasing new kitchen equipment, new dining room décor and an expanded bar. They still offer the same exceptional dining experience visitors have come to enjoy, but have expanded the “tavern” part of the equation, providing new menu items such as flatbread pizzas, fried oysters and house-made burgers.

“Everything we’ve done during this renovation is to enhance what was already there,” says Teresa Mullins, who owns Vintage Tavern with her husband, Brian. “We know that sometimes people are coming home from work or looking for something to eat after their kids’ soccer game and aren’t necessarily wanting for a three-course-meal, bottle-of-wine dinner. Understanding that, we made the bar bigger, created some new menu items and brought in more craft beers, without taking away from the dining room or the private dining space we have upstairs for special events.”

Vintage Tavern reopens

Opening in April of 2006, Vintage Tavern has been an intimate part of special memories for so many people from the area. Locals know where they can go for an exceptional meal paired with service that is caring, knowledgeable and intuitive. From first dates to proposals, and weddings to anniversaries, Vintage Tavern has always delivered a first-class experience. It’s one of the reasons they were selected as one of the Top 50 Restaurants in the United States in 2009.

To continue that tradition, the updated dining room offers intimate seating and creative chef entrée options that are locally sourced. Chefs have been testing new recipes and are excited about sharing their delicious preparations with familiar faces and newcomers. Entrees to choose from include a delicately Baked Flounder over Spoonbread, Elk Chops and Beef Tenderloin. A daily specials board also complements the menu.

On the more casual side, the expanded bar will include weekly happy hour specials and an amazing selection of beer, wine and cocktails. In honor of the restaurant’s Irish heritage, Guinness is now back on tap to complement the other select craft brews.

Of course, the two outdoor patios are still available so you can dine under the stars or just sit back and relax on a nice evening by the firepit. On the front patio, visitors will find cozy couches and chairs for conversation before or after dinner. On the back garden patio, where the bullfrogs like to serenade guests, you may choose to have a full dinner service or enjoy your after-dinner dessert and coffee by the pond and waterfall. The Terrace area is also an elegant spot for an intimate outdoor wedding.

The staff at Vintage Tavern makes everyone feel at home and welcome. They strive and succeed in delivering warm and professional service, and the pride they take in delivering that service shows in everything they do. If you have been a guest previously, you will love the thoughtful changes. If you have never stopped by, you should make sure to do so soon. Come in and say hello to General Manager Danna Alfieri and be prepared to be amazed by Executive Chef Dave Walters and his team.

Vintage Tavern is open Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 5 p.m. and on Sunday beginning at 4:30 p.m. They are closed on Monday.

Hey Coastal Virginia!
Just a heads up: we’re giving our servers a little TLC this Thursday, May 2, starting at 4:00 PM. While you’re avoiding the 44% chance of rain out there, our website might take a quick siesta. We’ll make sure it’s awake as soon as possible!Â
