Best date spot in Coastal Virginia? Day at the beach or biking on the boardwalk.

My take on Coastal Virginia’s singles scene:  I think perhaps because of the military and being such a transient area, it may be a tad harder to meet someone interested or available for a long-term commitment.

Phobias? Looking over extremely high bridges. I learned this little gem while bike riding over the Golden Gate Bridge two years ago.

Biggest goal in life? In short, to be awesome. For me that means continuing my education with a master’s program in nursing, being a role model and excellent aunt to my nieces, continuously improving my practice at work, achieving new PRs in my races, and finally creating the perfect sweet potato pie recipe.

Favorite neighborhood? Hands down I’m a Ghent gal for life.

Most exciting trend? I’m not sure if this is exciting or a trend, but I really dig gardening and growing your own veggies and herbs.

Your life’s biggest development so far was … changing careers. I graduated from Old Dominion in 2000-something and knew I wanted to be a writer and dove head first into what I thought was my dream. After a few years I realized it wasn’t the life for me, so I stepped out on faith, went back to school and followed a completely new path that has truly been a blessing for my life and hopefully others. Most people don’t know this about me: Ran smack into Morgan Freeman heading into a NYC Subway in 1990 just after Glory came out. He was not happy.

Phobias? Catholic nuns with rulers.

Biggest goal in life? Just being happy being me.

If you were an entrepreneur, what sort of business would you start? Home repair, especially with much older homes. Love the old Victorians.

Your life’s biggest development so far was … watching my oldest daughter head off to college.

Best date spot in Coastal Virginia? Anywhere on or near the water around sunset.

My take on Coastal Virginia’s singles scene: This is a great area. It really does offer the opportunity to meet people from all over the country and other parts of the world. I think you just have to remain open to the possibilities.

What do you find sensational about yourself? In recent years I have discovered this new level of creativity with upcycling old junk into cool home furnishings, lamps and wind chimes. Best part of all, my 11-year-old daughter is my assistant, my muse and my creative business partner.

Why do you think you are single? Someone recently pointed out that I spend too much time with work, family obligations and completing a home renovation project that has been ongoing for almost a year.
