Introducing "The Coastal Idea" House 2012

Hampton Roads Magazine presents “The Coastal Idea House” by Stephen Alexander Homes

This past spring, Hampton Roads Magazine participated in Homearama for the first time ever with our very own home. The Hampton Roads Magazine "Little Big House" by Stephen Alexander Homes was a Victorian revival farmhouse and explored the concept of a large lifestyle in a littler home. Both the home and our participation were (award-winning) successes.

This fall, HRM will again participate in Homearama, this time in East Beach, Norfolk, a renowned coastal community on the Chesapeake Bay. HRM's home–the "Coastal Idea House" by Stephen Alexander Homes–will be among 10 elegantly fully furnished and landscaped custom homes from the area's finest home builders.

The Hampton Roads Magazine "Coastal Idea House" will be built in the Coastal Victorian style with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms.

Viewing a floorplan of the home reveals highlights such as an open and livable floor plan, a master retreat with foyer, screened porch and spa, outdoor living space and turn-of-the-century features.

East Beach is a waterfront community in Norfolk, just a 10 minute drive from Norfolk International Airport and a 20 minute drive to downtown Norfolk and the perfect spot for the "Coastal Ideal House."

It rests on the Chesapeake Bay where the Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, meaning in just a few minutes, you can walk to the beach at the north end to the deep water marinas at the south end.

We went by East Beach yesterday to get a sneak peak of our home on 23rd Bay Street, and from what we can tell, things are moving along beautifully.

The structural framing of the home is complete, and it seems that other parts of the home will soon take form. Peak through the slideshow below to see the progress that our home is making, and check back to this blog often, as we'll be posting more photos and developments until the final reveal.
