Fun Things to Do With Your Dog in Virginia Beach

Earlier this week I posted a few of my favorite things to do with Chuy in Virginia Beach at the Hampton Roads Dog Blog. It’s finally the weekend and I can’t wait to get outdoors! Chuy is pretty excited to stretch his little legs too!

My most favorite thing to do with Chuy is to run and play on the beach! We started taking Chuy to the beach when he was just a tiny little puppy so he absolutely loves it! As much as I love the summer time, I’m ready for the tourist season to end so that we can visit the Boardwalk and the beach anytime. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the City of Virginia Beach bans dogs on the beach, the Boardwalk and the grass west of the Boardwalk from Rudee Inlet to 42nd Street. At all other public beaches, dogs are allowed before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. It’s not such a bad law considering that it’s too hot for your dog to be out on the hot sand on most summer days anyways. I usually take Chuy for walks after 6pm once the sun has cooled down and the sand and/or pavement aren’t going to burn his little paws!
