Five Reasons Pets Are Cool in the Winter

Baby, it's cold outside! It’s only the beginning of November and Hampton Roads is forecasted to get our first snow today! Considering the stores had Christmas stuff out before Halloween ended, I’m not surprised Mother Nature is speeding winter along too!

I was thinking how cool (no pun intended) it is to have a warm pet to snuggle up with on a cold, snowy day and it inspired me to write this post listing out the five reasons pets are cool in the winter!

A Full Time Snuggle Buddy

A four legged pet with fur is like having a full time snuggle buddy. Nothing is better than getting under the covers and snuggling up with your fur baby!

Netflix Marathon Sessions, Uninterrupted

Ever have one of those days when you just want to stay indoors and watch marathon sessions of The Walking Dead on Netflix? I love doing this especially when it’s freezing outside! A pet makes the best partner for a marathon session of Netflix because they don’t interrupt you by asking a million questions or telling you about their boring office drama stories. You can snuggle up together, drink a glass of hot cider (um for the humans only), and catch up on all your favorite shows!

A Free Heated Blanket

When it’s cold outside, I just want to get under the covers and get warm! I have a permanent heated blanket with two big Chihuahua ears named Chuy. Chuy is seriously like having a heated blanket on my lap! I don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn it off, burning down the house, or racking up my power bill.

Tacky Holiday Sweaters

Back to that part about pets not being able to talk . . .  They can’t tell you how incredibly tacky that sweater is that you are about to make them wear. You can even wear matching tacky sweaters with your pet! Something your significant other probably isn’t willing to do! If they are, then I suggest you make a holiday card ASAP with all 3 of you donning the most sparkly tacky holiday sweaters ever!

Blame the Holiday Weight Gain on Your Pet

Nobody has to know you gained ten pounds this holiday season because you couldn’t keep your hands off the fruit cake and chocolate dipped candy canes. You can blame it on your dog! Cold weather and snow means you’ll have to take shorter walks. Blame the extra pooch on the pooch!
