Farewell, Dave Scherr
Longtime friend to the region’s restaurant community Dave Scherr passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Dec. 5. Scherr—along with his wife, Dee—operated Dave & Dee’s Homegrown Mushrooms in Sedley, about 45 minutes west of Norfolk.
They began mushroom farming in 2003 and also delivered specialty products and other goods from small producers to restaurants. You’ve likely eaten their oyster mushrooms or seen them on a menu. Dee is continuing the business.
