Google Will Not Remove Anti-Islam Film Clip

Google told the White House Saturday that it will not take down the anti-Islam video that sparked demonstrations across the Muslim word, stating that the Innocence of Muslims clips falls "clearly within our guildlines." However, the company is restricting the Youtube video in some ways: Google has blocked access to the clip in Libya, Egypt, Indian, and Indonesia, citing "very sensitive situations." (Source)

Japan To End Nuclear Power by 2030s

The Japanese government announced a dramatic change to its energy policy Friday, vowing to end nuclear power in its country by the 2030s. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda noted that the majority of Japanese citizens support the elimination of nuclear power from their country. This proposal would call for an investment of $500 billion dollars in renewable energy sources over the next 20 years. (Source)

Protests Escalate in the Middle East

From Cairo, to Sudan, to Yemen, to Bangladesh, anti-American demonstrations across the Middle East continue to escalate. Protesters filled the streets and tried to overtake U.S. embassies Friday in anger over a film that depicts the Prophet Muhammad as a pedophile and womanizer. (Source)

VDOT apologizes for closures

The Virginia Department of Transportation says it will not close multiple bridges at the same time after a traffic nightmare over the weekend. This upcoming weekend's bridge work has been suspended as crews develop a plan to lessen the delays. Motorists were trapped for hours over the weekend as they attempted to travel through the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel from the Peninsula to the Southside. VDOT closed the eastbound lanes of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel as well as the James River Bridge to make scheduled repairs. (Source)
