Presidential debate winner?

Observers rated Mitt Romney as the stronger debater in Wednesday night’s first presidential debate. Romney challenged President Obama over his health care reforms, treatment of the economy, taxes and funding for Sesame Street’s Big Bird. He also called the president’s approach “trickle-down government” and accused him of spending his time in his office concentrating on passing his health care plan at the expense of creating jobs. The Denver debate was the first of three debates the two presidential candidates will have before Election Day. (Source)

Watermen accused of illegal dredging for oysters in James River

Virginia Marine Police arrested four commercial watermen on Wednesday who are accused of dredging for oysters in a prohibited area in the James River near Fort Eustis. Franceso M. Caffari, 47, of Newport News; Vernon L. Ward, 46, of Grafton; David N. Owens, 39, of Hayes and Carl R. Owens, 63, of Hayes, were arrested and charged with three felonies apiece: grand larceny, larceny and unlawful dredging. They’ve been released from custody on personal recognizance and are due in court October 18. (Source)

Arrest warrant out for Marcus Vick

Marcus Vick hasn’t turned himself in to authorities nearly two weeks after a judge issued an arrest warrant for his absence in court. Hampton Circuit Judge Wilford Taylor issued the warrant on September 21 when Vick didn’t appear for a charge of driving on a suspended license. (Source)
