CIA Director David Petraeus resigns 

NBC reported Friday that director of the Central Intelligence Agency and former commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan David Petraeus has resigned his post due to an extramarital affair. The White House has reportedly accepted Petraeus' resignation. (Source)

New York forced to ration gas

The fuel crisis cause by superstorm Sandy is forcing New York City to ration gasoline for the first time since the energy crisis of the 1970s. With many gas stations shut down and out of gas, motorists are having to spend hours in line to fill up. Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Thursday that the city would allow drivers with even-numbered license plates to buy gas on even days, and odd-numbered on odd days. The state of New Jersey has been under odd-even rationing since Saturday. (Source)

Obama: Extend Tax Cuts Now

On Friday, President Obama insisted that tax increases to the wealthiest Americans are necessary to cut the deficit while extending the middle-class tax cuts. Obama said he is willing to work with the House Republicans, but already, he has contradicted House Speaker John Boehner, who said earlier that no action can be taken immediately on middle-class tax cuts. ‘Sesame Street’ to Air Storm Special

Sesame Street’s hurricane special, “Sesame Street Gets Through a Storm,” which first aired in September 2001 as a five-part series, and again, in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, will return to educate children in the wake of Sandy. The tweaked episode focuses on Big Bird’s attempt to repair his destroyed nest with the help of Elmo and other Sesame Street friends. (Source)
