A Way with Watermelon

We dish up five tasty options for enjoying one of summer’s quintessential foods

It’s one of summer’s most recognizable foods—the watermelon. This quintessential seasonal treat can be found on porches and at picnics throughout the blistering hot months.

But often watermelon is served one way, and one way only: chilled ice cold and cut into wedges. And we find absolutely no fault with that.

However this versatile vegetable—yes, it is not a fruit—can be used in so many other delicious ways, both savory and sweet.

Here are some of our favorites:

Rad Red Watermelon Cocktail
Ingredients
2 cups cubed and seeded watermelon
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce melon liqueur, such as Midori
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1 cup ice

Method
Add watermelon, vodka, melon liqueur, lime juice and ice to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glass and garnish with small wedge of watermelon
