A Dog Friendly Day Trip to Smithfield, Virginia

I felt like I was waking up from the Ice Age over the past week. I had one heck of a cold plus we’ve pretty much been trapped indoors from all this snow, ice, and cold weather. When we saw that the temps were going to be in the 70’s, we took the chance to get outdoors and do some exploring! Over the weekend, my husband, Chuy, and I made a little trip out to Smithfield to check out Windsor Castle Park. Let me tell you . . . that place is amazing! One of the best parks in the area, especially for walking your dog!

We ended up eating lunch at this amazing little place tucked away on Jones Creek called Captain Chuck-a-Muck’s. They are dog friendly, have incredible drinks, delicious seafood, and the staff is sweet and accommodating. They brought Chuy a little water bowl and even a hush puppy! We will definitely be back!

I didn’t know at the time but they were featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Network. It’s truly one of those hidden gem type of places! We sat outdoors on the patio, enjoyed some adult beverages, listened to some reggae music, and took in that fabulous view! It doesn’t get any better than that!

I posted lots of pics and my recommendations in the Ultimate Dog Friendly Guide to Smithfield, Virginia over at the Hampton Roads Dog Blog. Head on over so you can plan your day trip ASAP!
