Led by Freeman, ODU Beats Georgia State

Trey Freeman scored 21 points to lead ODU to victory over Georgia St. at the Ted Constant Center in Norfolk. Aaron Bacote chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the Monarchs, respectfully.

Georgia St. came into the game with arguably the best guard combo in the country with former Kentucky guard Ryan Harrow and sharp shooter two guard RJ Hunter. ODU’s relentless defense held the future NBA prospects to a season low 11-35 shooting percentage scoring a mere 16 and 10 points far below their average.

"We played a total team game,” said Bacote. We know how good this team was coming into the game and we all stepped up to the challenge. It was a total team effort on both sides of the ball."

ODU owned the boards 53-35 led by Richard Ross (11), Jonathan Arledge (9) and Denzell Taylor (7).

The 8-1 Monarchs are winners of five in a row and off one of their best starts in ODU history. With an impressive RPI ranking of 17, the Monarchs will host the MD Eastern Shore to keep their winning streak alive.
