Alexander McArthur, III, MD, is one of the senior partners here at the Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads. Joining the practice in 1985, Dr. McArthur received his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, earning the John Gibbon Award for best surgical student in the medical school. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut-Hartford Hospital. He was then selected by Duke University for their prestigious plastic surgery residency program. Dr. McArthur then went to Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, for a hand surgery fellowship, and currently practices at our institute as a certified plastic surgeon. Williamsburg patients and beyond are delighted to have his expertise on their side.
Dr. McArthur is Board Certified in both Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and General Surgery and has received the certificate of added qualification in Surgery of the Hand from the American Board of Medical Specialties. He is active in many professional organizations, including his past service as president of the Newport News Medical Society and Chief of Surgical Staff at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Specialty memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and American Medical Association.
