3 Quick Tips to Protect Your Pet from Fleas and Ticks

Protecting your dog and cat from fleas in Virginia Beach, Coastal Virginia, and Greater Hampton Roads

The summer is quickly coming to an end but that doesn’t mean fleas, ticks, and mosquitos are going away anytime soon. Today I wanted to share with you three quick tips to help protect your pet from fleas and ticks.

  1. Give your dog/cat regular brushings with a flea comb as part of their grooming routine.
  2. After returning from a walk, take a look over your dog’s fur and skin to feel for ticks. They usually feel like a small bump. Check out these tips to safely remove the tick.
  3. If you’re having an outdoor dinner or event, light a citronella candle (out of your dog’s reach) to help keep the mosquitos away from both humans and dogs! Mosquitos aren’t just annoying . . . they can transmit heartworm disease to your pet. Check out our post and infographic about heartworm disease prevention.
