5 Red Wines to Try During Virginia Wine Month
V is for Virginia, and V is for Viognier, the state’s official white wine grape. But what about R? What red wine grapes are out there for Virginia wine lovers, especially now that the season is shifting from summer to autumn, and our palate is looking for something a little bolder?
It’s not necessarily a single red wine grape, but red wine grapes that are being lauded by imbibers everywhere. Specifically, red wine blends are making a name for themselves in Virginia, especially complex, rich Bordeaux-style blends (sometimes referred to as Meritage in this country).
These feature artful amalgamations from winemakers with such grapes as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot and others.
