Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation sponsors a day of free fitness classes.
If you've been discouraged by fizzled out New Year's resolutions of the past, take Victoria MaGee's advice. "Jump into a meaningful fitness program. And don't just go at it alone. Our hope is to make people excited about keeping their resolutions in 2011," she says.
MaGee, of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation, says that on Saturday, Jan. 15, the organization is hosting Passport to Fitness. Free, 20-minute classes will take place at the various Virginia Beach Recreation Centers. They are all open to the public and provide a great opportunity to take control of your get in shape goal. Each recreation center is committed to including people of all ages and needs and will offer classes such as Pilates, Boot Camp, Judo, Yoga, Zumba and many more.
"This is a way to reach people who just want a sample, prior to signing up for a class or purchasing a punch card or an unlimited pass," says MaGee. "This event allows prospective students to participate and see which type of class is just right for them." Local vendors will sell gear and fitness staff will give tips to help you make the most of your workout.
