Washington, D.C. Getaway

Spring is in the air--quite literally--this weekend in D.C. as the second annual Blossom Kite Festival comes to town. This Saturday, March 31, as part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, kite flyers of all forms will gather to display their kite flying finesse as well as their kite making skills for competitive prizes. Bring your own kites, or children can make a kite at an activity station to fly on the field. Afterward, fly (or just drive) over to Swann House Bed and Breakfast, a circa 1883 mansion that envelops you in the grandeur of a bygone era, featuring crystal chandeliers, elaborately carved fireplaces and original plaster moldings, while offering modern conveniences as well.
