Stuft, Not Your Average Street Food

The first thing you notice is the shiny stainless steel trailer emblazoned with stylized writing on the end proclaiming: Stuft, Not Your Average Street Food.

The second thing you see are smiles—big, broad smiles from Casey or Alex Haas—truck proprietors. The third thing that catches your eye is that they are holding tacos. Delicious tacos. That you must have.

One of the pioneers in the first wave of food trucks in Coastal Virginia, Stuft launched (lunched?) in downtown Newport News in November 2011 offering from-scratch Mexican-inspired food.

Although the menu changes, look for items like steak burritos, Jamaican Jerk chicken tostadas and shrimp tacos served with fresh sides like beans and rice or grilled plantains. Add some Haas’s Sauce, a proprietary creamy/fiery condiment.

And smile—life is better with a taco in hand.
