Lady Hawks Capture Sixth MEAC Bowling Title



The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) defeated Hampton University, 4-0, en route to their sixth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship title.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) defeated Hampton University, 4-0, en route to their sixth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship title on Sunday afternoon at AMF Lanes in Chesapeake, Va. The two-time defending NCAA champion Lady Hawks dominated the match 248-203, 189-141, 234-170 and 190-145 to win in Baker play.

No.7 Hampton battled No. 3 Florida AM during the morning’s semifinal match. The Lady Pirates and Lady Rattlers were tied at one game apiece before Hampton won the next three games to earn their place in the championship final.

UMES senior Anggie Ramirez earned Outstanding Tournament Performer honors. Ramirez led her team to the top seed with a 211 average during team games on Friday. Head Coach Kristina Frahm of Maryland Eastern Shore was named Outstanding Coach for the first time in her career.

Joining Ramirez on the All-Tournament Team is teammate T’Nia Falbo. North Carolina A&T’s Emily Strombeck, Katherine Jones of Florida A&M and Hampton’s Rebecca Glazier complete the team. The MEAC Bowling championship finale will air in a tape-delayed format on Monday, April 1 at 10:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
