Stonewall Jackson’s Shenandoah Valley Campaign celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, and to commemorate the event, Belle Grove Historic Plantation and the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation are highlighting the seminal battle of this campaign—the Second Battle of Bull Run. On Friday, August 3, Belle Grove will present a Reenactment of the Second Battle of Manassas, which raised Southern morale and cemented Jackson's reputation as a brilliant strategist. On Saturday, relive the thrilling action at Cedar Creek Battlefield in Middletown, Virginia, and watch a skirmish where Southern soldiers, having expended their ammunition, turned to rocks as defensive weapons. Civil War buffs will also enjoy historic arts and crafts, as well as camp life and weapons exhibitions.
