Ariel Castro dead

Ariel Castro, the 53-year-old Cleveland man who held three women captive for 11 years, hanged himself in prison with a bedsheet Tuesday night. Castro had been sentenced to life plus 1,000 years in prison for rape and kidnapping and only lasted 34 days in his cell. The three women abducted between 2002 and 2004 were aware of Castro’s choice to end it all but declined to comment on the shocking suicide. (Source)

New suspect indicted in 2010 slaying of Norfolk barber

Barnard Alexander Kearney, 36, was indicted Wednesday in the fatal April 17, 2010 shooting of Henry McIntosh Sr. at his shop, the Square Deal Barber Shop on Church Street. A grand jury indicted Kearney on charges of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted robbery, five counts of robbery, felonious possession of a firearm and nine counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Kearney was already in jail in Virginia Beach on robbery and firearm charges after a June 11 arrest. (Source)

Apple to unveil new iPhones Sept. 10

Apple Inc. sent out invitations to a Sept. 10 event, where they’ll unveil new models of the iPhone. The event will be held at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, at 10 a.m. The iPhone, introduced in 2007, is Apple’s top-selling product, accounting for half of revenue last year. As it faces increasing competition, the company is debuting an upgrade to the iPhone 5 as well as a less-expensive model, meant to help attract customers in developing regions. (Source)
