The Affordable Care Act “is here to stay”

During a campaign-style event today at a Maryland community college, President Obama attempted to dispel what the White House sees as some of the myths surrounding healthcare reform. “Five days from now, on Oct. 1, millions of Americans who don’t have health insurance because they’ve been priced out of the market will finally be able to buy quality, affordable health insurance,” Obama said. He attempted to explain the Affordable Care Act, listing benefits like insurance rebates, removal of caps on lifetime spending and protection of those with preexisting conditions. The administration’s last minute sales pitch comes as a round of new polls show a majority of Americans are skeptical of the law also known as Obamacare. (Source)

DeSteph says mosque threatens security

Yesterday Virginia Beach Councilman Bill DeSteph called a mosque that the City Council approved a threat to national security and alleged it has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. He was the only council member to vote against the mosque Tuesday night and said he obtained information that showed the funding for the facility came from the Mosque and Islamic Center of Hampton Roads in Hampton, which he alleged has connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. DeSteph would not say what the connection was or how he obtained the information, but he said he passed it to the federal government. (Source)
