No change at Chick-Fil-A

 Despite rumors that Chick-fil-A has changed its anti-gay marriage stance, Mike Huckabee confirmed Friday that this is not the case. Huckabee received a statement from the chain that he has posted on his website, which reads, "There continues to be erroneous implications in the media that Chick-fil-A changed our practices and priorities in order to obtain permission for a new restaurant in Chicago. That is incorrect. Chick-fil-A made no such concessions." Huckabee is associated with the chain after declaring a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day in response to its CEO's statements on gay marriage. National Zoo newborn panda dies

The newborn panda cub at the National Zoo, which was born Sept. 16, has died. The cause of death has not yet been determined. The baby panda had been the first panda cub to be born at the zoo since 2005. (Source)

Poverty increase in country's richest areas

A newly released census bureau statistics reports reveals that inequality is growing in the U.S. Statistics show that the Washington D.C. area boasts seven of the nation's ten highest-income counties, but poverty in the area is also rising. While poverty within the district declined between 2010 and 2011, it has largely grown in the wealthier suburbs, with all counties showing increases since 2007. (Source)

Va. students perform well on SAT

Virginia public school students continue to score above the national average on the SAT college-admissions test. The Virginia Department of Education released results from the class of 2012 Monday. Virginia public schools students scored 17 points higher than the national average in reading, 11 points higher in writing and 5 points higher in math. (Source)
