President Obama Wins Another Four Years

President Obama won re-election on Tuesday, winning the crucial battleground states of Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, New Hampshire, Virginia, and Wisconsin to defeat Governor Mitt Romney. Obama also holds a narrow lead in Florida; howver, officials there have not yet declared a winner. Romney delayed conceding for 90 minutes after the major TV networks called the race, with his aides ready to to contest the results. Ultimately, Romney congratulated Obama from Boston and marked the end of the campaign. President Obama assured his crowds in Chicago that the "best is still to come." (Source)

7.5 Earthquake Strikes Guatemala

An earthquake with a 7.5 magnitude struck off the Pacific coast of Guatemala on Wednesday morning, shaking the capital as well as buildings in as far away as Mexico City and El Salvador. At least eight people have died in the earthquake, the strongest to hit Guatemala since a 7.5 magnitude quake in 1976 that claimed more than 20,000 lives. (Source)

Sandy Victims Evacuate before Next Storm

Officials evacuated hundreds of people from New York City's storm-ravaged Rockaways section ahead of a nor'easter expected to hit Wednesda Nursing homes and other severely damaged buildings are already running on emergency generators, and emergency workers already have their hands full, so city and state officials do not want their situations to worsen. They will also close parks and beaches, and stop outside construction work as the region braces for high winds, rain, and sleet. (Source)

Democrats win in Va.

 The crucial battleground territory of Virginia gave its 13 electoral votes for a second time to President Barack Obama on Tuesday, while fellow Democrat Tim Kaine defeated George Allen in a night of heartbreaks for the state's determined Republicans. (Source)
