Toddler killed by animals at Pittsburgh Zoo

A 2-year-old boy was killed by a pack of African painted dogs at the Pittsburgh Zoo on Sunday after he fell into the animals' caged enclosure. The boy's mother had lifted him onto a railing so that he could see when he slipped. Zookeepers and police were able to call away all but one dog, which police had to shoot. (Source)

New York City Faces Housing Crisis

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, warned on Sunday that Hurricane Sandy has left the city with a housing crises comparable to the one New Orleans experienced after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. According to FEMA director Craig Fugate, 86,000 households in the New York area have registed for federal disaster aid. Some of the city's housing developments will be out of commission for the substantial future. (Source)

Obama and Romney make Final Attempts before Election

President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney, and their running mates will wrap up 17 months of campaigning on Monday with a final tour of eight critical election states. A pair of polls over the final weekend showed Obama finishing with strong momentum, regaining a narrow lead nationally. However, a third poll by CNN showed the candidates tied, each with 49 percent support. (Source)

Man with bionic leg climbs Willis Tower

A Seattle man who lost a leg three years ago climbed to the top of Chicago's Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, on Sunday. Zac Vawter, 31, made the 103-step climb as the first public test of his prosthetic leg--the world's first bionic leg controlled by impulses sent by the brain. Vawter made it to the top in 53 minutes 9 seconds. (Source)

NASA to support rocket test flight in Va.

NASA will support a test flight of a commercial suborbital rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility this week. This 10-feet-tall rocket is projected to fly up about 3 miles during its flight. (Source)
