Maintenance leaves MMMBT in dark

Motorists are encountering a power outage at the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel today as contractors are performing maintenance on a breaking at the MMMBT. Currently, power is out at the south island, but there is partial lighting both northbound and southbound. Crews have placed a sign instructing motorists to turn their headlights no when entering the tunnel. (Source)

Ricin-letter investigation identifies Texas man as person of interest

A Texas man was identified as a person of interest Thursday in the investigation into threatening letters sent to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, which contained the deadly toxin ricin, and to President Obama, which is being tested for the poison. The man is not under arrest but was questioned by the FBI in Texarkana, Texas. (Source)

Zumba teacher going to jail for prostitution

Alexis Wright, a 30-year-old Zumba fitness instructor who pleaded guilty to using her Maine studio as a front for prostitution is going to jail, bringing to an end a scandal featuring sex videos, adultery and exhibitionism. Wright was sentenced today under a plea agreement to 10 months in jail for 20 counts including prostitution, conspiracy, tax evasion and theft by deception. She was accused of conspiring with an insurance business owner to run a prostitution business in which she videotaped clients without their knowledge and kept detailed records over an 18-month period indicating she made $150,000 tax-free while collecting welfare. Prosecutors will seek restitution of $57,280. (Source)
