Chinese firm to buy Smithfield Foods in $7.1B deal

Though the 77-year-old Smithfield company headquarters will stay in its home in Smithfield, the company was bought in a $7.1 billion deal by Shuanghui International Holdings Ltd., a Chinese company. The deal is part of an effort for the company to increase exports of pork out of the United States. (Source)

Spooked horse goes missing in Suffolk

Suffolk Animal Control is searching for a 13-year-old horse named Bella that went missing Sunday after throwing her rider and disappearing in a rural wooded area near Greenway Road and Cypress Chapel Road. Officials believe Bella was spooked by a golf cart. Bella is 17 hands tall and blackish-brown with a short, white mane and black spot between her eyes.
