White House closes its doors

Tours of the White House have been cancelled until further notice as of Saturday, March 9. The White House has announced the cancellation is a result of the budget cuts from the sequestration, which was signed into law last Friday. The sequester calls for $85 billion in cuts. The ending of the tours is allegedly due to staffing cuts being made within the White House as part of the spending reductions. (Source)

Airport security relaxes on pocketknives

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) might be getting more lenient this April. The agency has said it will allow passengers on small passenger planes to bring pocketknives with retractable blades shorter than 6 cm, as well as golf clubs, hockey sticks and plastic Wiffle Ball bats. These items have been banned by the TSA since the increased regulations sparked by the September 11 terrorist attacks. The changes are set to take effect April 25 of this year. (Source)
