American woman gang-raped in India

Police confirmed a 30-year-old American tourist being raped on Tuesday, June 4. The woman was said to be attacked in Manali, a tourist destination, after she entered a vehicle with three men. Police inspector Abhimanyu Kumar told the AFP that medical tests confirm she was raped. Every truck driver in Manali has been told to report to the police station. Man in bifocals, wig robs Newport News bank

Newport News Police are trying to locate and identify the man involved in a bank robbery near Christopher Newport University. A white male suspect with bifocals and a ponytail robbed the SunTrust Bank in the 300 block of Hiden Boulevard around 4 p.m. on Monday, June 3. The suspect reportedly did not show a weapon; he simply handed the teller a note, was handed an undisclosed amount of money and then fled on foot. No injuries were reported. The man was described as standing 5’8”, weighing around 180 pounds wearing a green shirt and jeans. The glasses and ponytail were discarded a short distance from the bank. The case is still open. Woman hit by train in Chesapeake  

On Monday, June 3, a woman was hit by a train in Chesapeake. According to Chief Sam Gulisano with the Chesapeake Fire Department, the woman was crossing the tracks at Seaboard and Liberty Street around 3:15 p.m. when the accident occurred. The intersection is currently closed. The woman was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threating injuries to her lower body. (Source)

Trooper’s vehicle hit during Super Haul

On Monday night a trooper was injured during a crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 264 near Birdneck road in Virginia Beach around 11:15 p.m. The trooper was said to have been helping with a Super Haul/oversized load when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 2012 Chrysler. The trooper and the driver, Randor L. Uzzle, Jr. were transported to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Uzzle was charged with reckless driving.
