Town Center Shooting
Because of several complaints voiced by Virginia Beach residents, the City Council has decided to hear evidence in the case of a deadly shooting at Town Center. According to reports, multiple shots were fired early Sunday morning. Police discovered two unidentified persons suffering from gunshot wounds in front of Guadalajara’s, a popular nightclub. Virginia just outside top 20% in child well-being study
Virginia ranked 11th on the Annie E Casey Foundation’s report on the status of child well-being in the country. The report measures child health, prosperity and welfare in each of the 50 states. According to the report, Virginia improved on 9 out of 16 measures, including across-the-board improvements in education and health, while decreasing in children in single-parent homes (29% in 2005 to 31% in 2011) and children living in households with a high housing cost burden (33% in 2005 to 37% in 2011). Snowden not on plane bound for Ecuador
Ex-CIA whistleblower Eric Snowden was scheduled to travel by airplane from Moscow to Ecuador this morning to plead for asylum with the Ecuadorian government which guarantees such safety to those who publish opinions through media such as the internet, television and radio. Snowden has been pursued by the FBI and CIA since releasing information about the NSA’s surveillance program to the public last week. Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino has promised thorough consideration of Snowden’s plea as well as the United States’ request. (Source)
