9 dead after tornadoes, floods strike Oklahoma

Oklahoma City experienced severe flooding on Saturday as officials began surveying damage from tornadoes that hit the area on Friday, killing nine and injuring more than 100 people. The storm, which was the second fatal one to strike the area in 11 days, spawned several tornadoes, toppled cars and left commuters trapped on an interstate highway during Friday’s evening rush. The storm also brought heavy rain and hail, causing floodwaters to top four feet in Oklahoma City early Saturday followed by repeated rounds of thunderstorms, which have produced between four to seven inches of rain since midnight Saturday. Some highways were closed because of downed power lines, and there are more than 91,800 power outages as of Saturday afternoon. (Source)

Four injured in Virginia Beach shooting

Virginia Beach police are investigating an early-morning multiple shooting Sunday on Boerum Court. Officers were sent about 1 a.m. Sunday on a report of a firearms violation. As officers arrived at the scene, numerous vehicles were leaving the area. According to the report, six to seven people who were not invited to a party at the residence tried to get in and were turned away, but they stayed outside in the court. Party guests approached them and asked them to leave, but some of the uninvited guests pulled out guns and began firing. One of the invited guests fired back with his own weapon. A short time later, two people checked into Sentara Independence, a third victim checked into Sentara Princess Anne and a fourth at Sentara Leigh. All of the shooting victims were guests who were invited to the party, and their injuries were not life-threatening. (Source)
