Apple to release smaller iPad this fall

One of Apple’s best-selling products is supposedly getting smaller and cheaper. Come September, we may see another generation of the iPad. The Wall Street Journal reports that the new tablet’s screen will likely be 7 or 8 inches, about 2 inches smaller than the first three generations. It is believed that offering a smaller iPad may increase competition between similar tablets, such as Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire. (Source)

Chestnut chows down in Coney competition

Five-time champion Joey Chestnut has claimed another victory in the Fourth of July hot dog eating contest at Coney Island. The 28-year-old swallowed down 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes, taking home the $10,000 prize and the mustard yellow belt. The second and third place winners finished the contest with 52 and 51 dogs respectively. (Source)

Norfolk state senator dies at 77

Norfolk Sen. Yvonne Miller died Tuesday after battling stomach cancer. Miller was the first black woman elected to the state House and Senate. She was also the first to chair a standing committee, or a permanent legislative panel. Miller is survived by six brothers and two sisters. (Source)
