DirecTV, Viacom unable to resolve dispute
DirecTV customers may still have access to hundreds of channels today. However as of midnight, popular channels such as Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central will not be among them. DirecTV and Viacom could not reach an agreement over a new carriage contract for the Viacom-owned channels. Although DirecTV and Viacom are still negotiating the terms of the new contract, DirecTV customers can expect to miss episodes of Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants and MTV’s Teen Mom for one to four weeks. Amazon to introduce smartphone?
Move over Apple. Step aside, Samsung. Amazon is finding another way to heighten technological competition by developing a smartphone. Officials who are supplying Amazon’s smartphone parts claim that production could start as soon as this year or early in 2013. Not many details have been released about the phone. However, some speculate that the screen of Amazon’s smartphone currently being tested will measure between four and five inches. (Source)
Giuliani visits Virginia Beach
The former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will be stopping in Virginia Beach at 2 p.m. this afternoon. Giuliani is aiding Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney with his Virginia campaign. The former mayor will headline a rally for veterans at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post before he makes his way to the grand opening of a Henrico County GOP headquarters tomorrow. (Source)
