Obama Campaign Trail Includes Green Run High School

The Obama campaign has confirmed that the president will speak at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach this Friday, July 13, as part of a two-day visit to Virginia. Tickets will be required for the event. While a spokesperson has not confirmed the campaign’s exact itinerary, President Obama will also be speaking at Firehouse #1 in Roanoke, and potential other stops include other cities in Hampton Roads along with Roanoke, Richmond and Northern Virginia. Apartment Proposal for Wainwright Building

Newport News developers have proposed that Norfolk’s historic Wainwright building, formerly medical offices, be converted to 119 apartments. The nine-story building, which overlooks the light rail, could potentially house up to 300 residents. These proposed plans for the foreclosed-upon building have garnered praise from Norfolk’s Mayor Fraim and the Freemason Street Area Association Civic League and were presented to city officials on Monday. Cancer Test Presents Moral Dilemma

A new genetic test on eye melanomas categorizes tumors into two groups with vastly different prognoses. Members of Class 1 are likely to recover, while the outlook for the individuals of Class 2 is not as positive; only 70–80% of patients survive longer than five years, as the disease metastasizes to their livers. For doctors and patients, this creates a dilemma: doctors must decide whether or not to offer the test, and patients must decide whether or not they want to know the prognosis. (Source)
