NBC announces Fall hosts, musical guests for “SNL”

“SNL” may have said goodbye to Andy Samberg and Kristin Wiig last season, but the show’s thirty-eighth season will be saying hello to popular hosts and musicians. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the show “Family Guy” and director of the movie Ted, will be hosting the season premiere on September 15. Frank Ocean will be the musical guest. Also lined up for Fall appearances are Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mumford and Sons, Daniel Craig and Muse. (Source)

Hurricane Isaac makes landfall a second time

One year ago today, Hurricane Katrina made landfall over Louisiana, breaking levees and devastating New Orleans. Today, Hurricane Isaac made landfall on the Gulf states. So far, more than 400,000 people are without power due to down trees. The Category 1 hurricane is moving slowly across the state, and its fury will be felt through the night. Some rescues have been made for trapped citizens, and rescue attempts for stranded people are expected to be made the rest of the day. (Source)

Virginia Beach gym “hurt” over gold medalist’s accusations

Two-time gold medalist Gabby Douglas trained at Excalibur Gymnastics in Virginia Beach before moving to Iowa for training. In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, the athlete claimed she was bullied and a victim of racism while on the Virginia Beach team. In response to the interview, the gym’s CEO and Gabby’s former coaches and teammates are firing back. They say they don’t believe the medalist was a victim of bullying and that Gabby was like family to everyone at Excalibur. Furthermore, they are “shocked” and “very hurt” by her accusations.
