Michael Phelps breaks Olympics history

Charlie Sheen may have coined the phrase “Winning!” but Olympic swimmer and star Michael Phelps is truly living it. After Tuesday night’s freestyle relay win, Phelps became the most decorated Olympian of all time. The swimmer boasts 19 medals, 15 of which are gold. With three events remaining in this year’s Games, Phelps may further distance himself from other competitors who are trying to catch up to his success. (Source)

Women take advantage of free healthcare today

Birth control, Pap smears, mammograms and other preventative services will be free for millions of women, beginning August 1, 2012. The 2010 health reform law that was implemented today requires that private health insurance policies pay for many women’s health preventative services. It’s unknown how many women intend to take advantage of this new policy. However, the US Health and Human Services Department estimates that 47 million women have private health insurance plans that will be affected. (Source)

Romney to visit Hampton Roads

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking a four-day bus tour that plans on stopping in Hampton Roads. Officials from Romney’s campaign confirmed that the contender will visit Norfolk some time in August, and CNN stated he will make his appearance on Aug. 11. Romney’s last visit to Hampton Roads was in May when he stopped in Portsmouth. (Source)
