Gay marriage bill clears Britain’s House of Lords

Britain’s gay marriage bill has cleared its last major hurdle, passing the House of Lords and prompting celebrations from campaigners outside Parliament. Supporters of the bill wore pink carnations today as the Lords agreed to send it back to the House of Commons, where lawmakers will review government amendments before it becomes law. That is expected to go without a hitch, as the House of Commons earlier passed the bill 390 to 148. The bill will enable gay couples to marry in both civil and religious ceremonies in England and Wales, though the Church of England, which is divided on the issue, is barred from offering same-sex ceremonies. US Air Force combat aircraft no longer grounded

The U.S. Air Force said many of its combat air forces would start flying again today after being grounded since April because of budget cuts. The cuts affected one-third of active-duty combat aircraft. Officials at Air Combat Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis said planes in the U.S., Europe and the Pacific would become airborne again today. The popular Thunderbirds demonstration team will also be going through training hours and will possibly participate in limited engagements in 2014. (Source)
