Arsons resume in Accomack County

The Eastern Shore may once again be falling victim to a serial arsonist. According to Va. State Police, two fires were started Sunday, causing damage to a storage shed on Nelsonia Road and tires on Coastal Blvd. They are suspected to be connected to the 36 fires that occurred in Accomack County last year, which mostly targeted vacant structures throughout the area. The Virginia Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the perpetrator’s arrest, and anyone with information regarding the fires is encouraged to contact the State Police at 1-800-582-8350. Super Bowl XLVII: 49ers, Ravens reach New Orleans set up matchup of Harbaugh Brothers

Already being touted “The HarBowl,” Super Bowl XLVII is bound to be an event to remember. The NFC Championship Game began the excitement this Sunday when Coach Jim Harbough’s 49ers came back from a 17-point deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons. Following the San Francisco victory was the AFC Championship Game between the Baltimore Ravens, coached by John Harbough, brother to the 49ers coach, and the New England Patriots. The Ravens won their game 28-13, securing their spot in Super Bowl XLVII against San Francisco. The Harbaughs will be the first sibling coaches to challenge each other for a major U.S. professional sports championship. The brothers’ teams will face off Sunday, February 3, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. (Source)

VB man wins commercial contest

You might get a taste of Hampton Roads this Super Bowl Sunday–at least during the commercials. Virginia Beach’s Allen Fabijan, on-air personality for 106.1 New Country, will have his Super Bowl commercial idea for Lincoln Motor Company aired during the big game. Fabjian won Lincoln’s “Steer the Script” contest, in which over 6,000 ideas were submitted to the company via Twitter. Of these, five were selected by late night host Jimmy Fallon, who then wrote the script for the winning commercial. Fabijan has already gone to Hollywood for the shooting, and although he cannot reveal what the commercial is about, be on the lookout for ads featuring turtles, bikers and game on the side of the road.
