Plane crashes into Connecticut houses

A pilot and a 1-year-old child are dead after a small plane crashed into two East Haven, Connecticut houses around 11:25 a.m. The plane was attempting to land at Tweed Airport in rainy conditions. How many people were on the plane is not known, and a 13-year-old remains unaccounted for. The houses hit were both destroyed. (Source)

U.S. justice denies bid for delay on Virginia sodomy law

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has lost his bid to delay a lower court ruling that struck down the state’s anti-sodomy law while the U.S. Supreme Court considers whether to hear his appeal. Chief Justice John Roberts denied the request on Friday. In March, a divided three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond declared Virginia’s law against oral and anal sex unconstitutional. Cuccinelli appealed the ruling in June and later asked the justices to issue the stay. (Source)

Carrollton man fatally shot as deputies serve arrest warrants

Deputies were serving 31-year-old James William Wallace with arrest warrants Friday afternoon when Wallace ended up in a confrontation with deputies in an upstairs room. According to Isle of Wight County Sheriff Mark Marshall, Wallace charged a deputy with a knife, and the deputy shot him once, killing him. Wallace had 20 outstanding warrants: eight misdemeanors for obtaining money under false pretense and 12 felonies for uttering. Five deputies were there to serve the warrants. (Source)
