Virginia Beach suspends valet services at Town Center restaurants

On Wednesday the city of Virginia Beach suspended valet service in front of three Town Center restaurants: Ruth’s Chris Steak House, McCormick & Schmick’s and Sonoma Wine Bar & Bistro. The city’s action came a night after Robert Dean, a former councilman and chairman of the Tidewater Libertarian Party, protested the valets by parking in spaces that were designated for their use. Valet parking at the Westin hotel is still operating. (Source)

Aaron Hernandez indicted in death of Odin Lloyd

Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez was indicted on a first-degree murder charge Thursday in connection with the death of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd in June. Hernandez is being held without bail. The grand jury indictment charges the 23-year-old former tight end with murder and five weapons charges. It says Hernandez “did assault and beat Odin Lloyd with intent to murder him, and by such assault and beating did kill and murder the said Odin Lloyd.” (Source)

Bradley Manning announces that she is a female

On Thursday, Bradley Manning, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for leaking military information, made the announcement that he would like to live as a woman and will now be known as Chelsea. “I want everyone to know the real me,” he said in a statement. “I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female. Given the way I feel and have felt since childhood, I plan to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible.” Manning requested that the media use his new female name. (Source)
