Va. Beach receives private proposal to extend Tide

The Tide light rail could be hitting Town Center in Virginia Beach by 2016. The proposed project was offered to Hampton Roads Transit by a private company, meaning the plan wouldn’t need to rely on any federal funding. Multiple, local firms support the project, including Virginia Beach company Jacobs Engineering. The proposed idea for additional tracks toward the Virginia Beach area became more prominent after 62 percent of Virginia Beach residents expressed interest in it last year. The total cost of the project to Town Center was estimated at about  $254 million, or $807 million if it extends all the way to the Oceanfront. (Source)

It’s official: Jimmy Fallon to replace Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show”

As soon as spring 2014, Jay Leno will step down to make way for “Late Night” host Jimmy Fallon. “The Tonight Show” will hand over its spot next spring, moving Fallon’s show to the Big Apple. So far, there has been no announcement of what will take the 12:35 a.m. slot when “Late Night” will move. (Source)

Records: Ex-firefighter in Accomack Co. arson case confessed

Former firefighter Charles R. Smith III admitted to authorities  that he set one of the fires in the string of arsons in Accomack County. Smith and Tonya Bundick were arrested Tuesday for allegedly setting 77 fires along the shore since November. Smith has been previously convicted of 25 counts of forgery and one count of breaking and entering during the 90s. (Source)

Facebook phone speculation grows amid report of phone specs

We’re only a day away from finding out whether the rumored “Facebook phone” is true. Over the past week, technology buffs looked into the prospected idea of a new HTC hosted phone that would have modifications for Facebook usage by the user. Although Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated he was not interested in a Facebook phone back in July, he did admit that Facebook is one of the most phone-friendly applications on any mobile device.
