Concern in Virginia Beach after Oceanfront violence

Violence broke out across several blocks near the Oceanfront last Saturday and early Sunday, leaving several people injured and many more concerned after an event drew thousands of young adults for College Beach Weekend 2013. Police reported three shootings, three incidents in which a person was cut and three robberies, all between 17th and 33rd street near the Oceanfront. None of the injuries were life-threatening, but the violence was enough to shake up some who visit, live at or work in the area. (Source)

2 injured in shooting at Tide Mill Café

Two people were injured in a shooting at the Tide Mill Café in Hampton early Sunday morning. A 20-year-old man left the Hampton nightspot after getting into an argument. Police say the man returned with a firearm and fired several shots into the building. A man and woman inside the building suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police have identified the suspect as Javon Rian Carroll and have issued warrants for his arrest. (Source)

FSA says Israeli jets hit chemical site

The Free Syrian Army says Israeli air force jets flew over President Bashar Assad’s palace and bombed a chemical weapons site near Damascus, Maariv reported. The report said Israeli jets entered Syrian airspace close to 6 a.m. Saturday and flew over Assad’s palace in Damascus and other security facilities before striking a chemical weapons compound near the city. There were no reports of the extent of damage or casualties. (Source)
