More than Words: Brian & Amanda
We are so happy to bring you these stunning photos by Virginia Beach Photographer Tracey Sanders and this charming story about Brian Jarvis and Amanda Richards who were married locally this summer.
Brian and Amanda met online—Brian lived in Fairfax and Amanda lived in Oklahoma City. After a long distance love, Brian asked Amanda to marry him on Valentine’s Day 2010. She said yes and it’s been happily ever after since!
Luckily for us, Tracey Sanders was there to capture the day. Here are a few of the details we love:
This hairpiece was handmade by Amanda’s sister, Lorena Richards. We love that she used Swarovski crystals that were removed from Amanda’s dress when making alterations. Lorena also made hair ornaments for the two Junior Bridesmaids, who were also Amanda’s sisters. The bride and bridesmaids had their hair done by Angie Petersen of Symmetrics Hair Design, Virginia Beach.
It was love at first sight for Amanda when she found this dress at All the Rage (Hilltop East, Virginia Beach). The wedding took place at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia Beach and the ceremony was held in the Rodriguez Pavilion and the reception was held in the Atrium.
Alisa Cowsert of Botanique in Chesapeake did the flowers and this stunning boutonniere. We love these vibrant colors! The ceremony was officiated by a Virginia Beach Judge and good friend of Brian’s mother, which added a special element to the ceremony.
The colors of the wedding were shades of purple and turquoise. The flowers and centerpieces were also done by Alisa Cowsert and the catering was by Cathy Carter of East Beach Catering. Amanda did a great job incorporating various types of orchids and hydrangeas in glass vases with colored wire—she kept it simple yet beautiful.
The cake was made by Jessica Steadman of My Cake Delights and the flowers placed on it were done by the florist. Amanda and Brian had about 125 guests, which was the perfect size for the venue they chose—intimate and special for everyone.
