Going the Distance
The Couple: Jocelyne (an accountant in Los Angeles) and Tim (working with UPS in Springfield, VA)
Their Story: Jocelyne and Tim met through an online dating site—a new experience for both. After months of emails and phone conversations, Tim flew to California to meet Jocelyne and her family. Things went so well that when Tim invited Jocelyne to Virginia to meet his family, he proposed the same weekend. They tied the knot this past June at Maymont Park in Richmond.
The Couple: Sarah and Kyle
Their Story: Kyle came into Wilcox Bait and Tackle, Sarah’s family business, for the charter boat he was working on that summer. Kyle’s friend, Willie, was tired of hearing about Sarah and told Kyle he had to ask her out. After getting nervous, Willie pointed Kyle out to Sarah and said that he wanted her phone number. She said no, but luckily, Kyle didn’t hear it. After getting up the courage to ask for her number himself, her sister enthusiastically said, “Yes!” Their first date was at the Riverwalk Restaurant at Yorktown Beach and they have been together ever since. They were married three years later (this past August) at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and had the reception at Yorktown Beach Freight Shed.
A Love for all Seasons
The Couple: Amy (works for BillOre, LLC) and Kevin (works for McAllister Towing of New York); also own Gwin's Gutter Services, LLC.
Their Story: They met almost five years ago through mutual friends and quickly learned they had a lot in common. They both love snowboarding during the winter and wakeboarding in the summer. Kevin proposed a year ago in Sandbridge. Amy found her wedding dress online through Mori Lee and purchased it at All the Rage in Chesapeake. They are planning an evening wedding during sunset on October 10th, 2010 on a dock overlooking Lake Gaston.
Long Distance Love
The Couple: Brittany and Dusty
Their Story: They met at Nansemond River High School. After four years of dating, Dusty joined the United States Marine Corp in March 2009. Over the past year, they have only seen each other for about 30 days. In February of this year, he came home before he deployed for Afghanistan and proposed to Brittany on the top of Massanutten Mountain. Dusty is set to return in late September and their wedding date is set for January 2, 2011. Once Dusty returns, they have plans to move to California.
