There’s been a lot of talk about the farm-to-table movement in the culinary scene the last few years. Well, HomeGrown Executive Chef Nic Hagen does more than talk the talk—he walks the walk.

In fact, the Johnson & Wales graduate walks across the street from the restaurant he owns with Hope Dennis in Olde Towne Portsmouth (formerly Segundo Pizza) to the weekly farmers market to pick up fresh-picked goods for his cuisine.

Maybe it’s Creamy Collard-Stuffed Tortellini in a Sweet Potato Sauce with Candied Hubs Peanuts. Or perhaps a Rockfish BLT. Or maybe a Jumbo Lump Crab Meat Pizza. Who knows? The menu items, like the seasons, change.
